I was lucky in that i got to go abroad early in my college career on a short summer program. What's so great about that is that I am working on going abroad for a whole semester so asking the question "If I could do it over again…" is actually a very important part of my life right now. I guess aside from major or minor requirements I am really thinking about where I would like to go. Originally I had planned to study in Florence or somewhere else in Italy, I've been studying Italian just for that purpose, But now? After going to Egypt this summer I think I am really not fond of the idea of going to Europe for a semester. Everyone and their mom goes to Europe, (no really, my mom just got back from Europe). I want to go somewhere that is different, because study abroad gives you a chance to do something you might never do otherwise. I was so nervous on the way from Paris to Cairo, Egypt is considered the middle east, and I was a very obviously American girl. But the experiance was more than I imagined it would be.
So I am saying that there are a lot of considerations that go into choosing which program is right for you, but comfort zone should not be on the top of the list. Amazing things can happen when you step out of your zone and enjoy the world.
